My partner Iza and I participated in the ayahuasca retreat last September (2018). It was my first ayahuasca experience. As many of you may know your first experience can be pretty challenging, but also illuminating. First, I must say that the staff and particularly the Shamans at Kawsay were outstanding. To put it succinctly, these folks are the “real deal”. I was amazed at the amount of personal interaction we had with them. My partner Iza discovered an issue that the shamans wanted to treat specially. Don Wnister came to our hut every morning to perform a personal ritual with her. Also, during the regular evening ceremonies, each one of us received personal attention. I’ve heard that some of the other ayahuasca retreats in the Iquitos area can have dozens or more participants… can’t possibly have the same kind of personal interaction we received. I believe that Don Romulo is known as “the trunk” shaman because he has trained many of the younger shamans in the area including his son, Don Wnister. If you are looking for a real, native ayahuasca experience, this is the place. My compliments to William and all the folks at Kawsay for trying to maintain an authentic experience
