Vancouver – Canada
The people: William and his team are incredibly warm, friendly, and available for discussion. Their knowledge and capability regarding the plant medicine was highly reassuring and put my mind at ease for what otherwise might have been an intimidating experience. I also bonded very closely with the other people on the retreat – everyone in my group was warm, kind, and friendly. 🙂
The location: The location is beautiful! It is a complex of malocas suspended on stilts above the jungle floor. It is an hour boat ride down the amazon river and nestled into a secluded alcove. When I went, the area was flooded with water (see photo), which made the experience feel even more magical.
The food: Meals were served 2 to 3 times per day and adhered to the ayahuasca diet (no salt, no pork, among other things). Despite these dietary restrictions, the food was delicious. I even started incorporating plantains into my regular diet when I returned home. 🙂
The ceremonies: The ceremonies are almost indescribable and are indelibly etched into my mind. Definitely life altering. For me personally, the effects of the plant medicine could be challenging (and if I’m being honest, even terrifying), but the way William and his team have organized the ceremonies, I was sure I was safe and well taken care of.
The discussions: Between ceremonies, we had group discussions about what we experienced. It was very helpful in interpreting and making sense of what we experienced. William and the staff also made themselves very available for one on one discussions at all hours of the day.
Final Note: Provided you are of sound mind and body, I would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone.
